What You Get When You Purchase a List

Once you purchase a list from Printz, you will receive an e-mail with the list attached within 2 hours, usually faster. The list comes in both an Excel format and a CSV format (text format with comma separated fields). The list is not in a label format. To create labels you will need to go through the Mail Merge wizard in Word. Refer to your help screens in Word; the process is different based on the version of Word that you own. Printz currently does not offer the option of purchasing pre-printed labels. Lists also do not include barcoding or postal presort reports used in conjunction with a mailing permit. To use a mailing permit for postage automation discounts you will need 3rd party software or purchase mailing services from us.

Overview of the List Business

The list world is divided into compilers and brokers. Compilers actually compile the data. There a few actual compilers, most resources are brokers like ourselves. The compiler we use for residential data is Equifax. Equifax primarily supplies credit information to the financial industry and sells their lists as a side business. The compiler we use for business date is Dunn and Bradstreet. There are other many smaller "boutique" list compilers that will supply very targeted data for select industries. Most do not have online systems, but do sell through brokers. You can always call us to see who those sources are and get counts and costs.

Compilers get their data from a variety of sources - government records, utilities records, census data, surveys and other proprietary sources. None of the list compilers will supply information on every homeowner or every business. And thought they try to keep their data up to date, they will only guarantee a percentage of their records. In addition, they only know so much about each business or household, so the more "selects" you want, the more targeted you want to be, the more you cut down the potential targets.

The Equifax residential file contains data on over 135 million households and is compiled from multiple data sources including telephone directories, credit files, mail responders, government records and other proprietary sources. The Equifax file follows strict consumer privacy guidelines (e.g. DNC, Do Not Mail) and guarantees 95% deliverability. Business Lists

The Business Lists at Printz are supplied by Dunn and Bradstreet - dnb.com. Dunn and Bradstreet is one of the 2 top business list suppliers in the US. The other is InfoUSA. D&B is known worldwide as the largest source of commercial information on businesses. Their database contains more than 22 million records compiled from multiple data sources such as telephone directories, government filings, and annual reports. More than 22 million phone calls are made annually to verify the information. D&B guarantees 90% deliverability. Occupant Lists

The Occupant Lists at Printz are supplied by Contact Information Systems - cisdirect.com. Occupant lists include all mailing addresses within a given area. The areas are defined by carrier route and zip code. Each zip code has approximately 20 to 70 carrier routes and each route has approximately 200 to 800 addresses. You can choose carrier routes by average income or home value, and you have the option to get the primary name of the addressee where available. Typically the list will have 70% of addresses with a contact name, but this will vary by geography. Occupant lists qualify for "walk sort" or "saturation" Postage discounts.
